Last Annual General Meeting of CIPS Loyalist

First Meeting of Loyalist Local Event Committee

(Loyalist LEC)

Jun 30th 2010 - LUNCHEON

A group representing the CIPS NB provincial body as well as the Loyalist and Fredericton sections have been working towards a restructuring of CIPS to better align with the new governance structure adopted at the National level. Further information on this may be found at: http://www.cips.ca/node/378.

In brief, the existing Loyalist and Fredericton sections have been merged with the provincial body. This will allow us to streamline the administration of CIPS in New Brunswick and eliminate redundancies in the executive functions. In order to retain a local presence, the existing sections are re-cast as "Local Event Committees (LEC)" that will operate much as they have in the past but under the auspices of the provincial body instead of the National organization.

CIPSNB Relationship with the Local Events Committee(LEC)

A Local Events Committee (LEC) may exist at a local level and hold activities as a LEC. For the purposes of these by-laws, there are two existing LECs – Saint John, Loyalist and Fredericton, plus any future LECs.  LEC usage in these by-laws may mean any or all of these LECs. Use of LEC in any discussion of funds will be taken to mean any individual LEC and the funds held in trust for the individual LEC.

A LEC will be an ad-hoc committee governed by CIPSNB by-laws. It will be composed of a minimum of four (4) members with one selected as a chairperson. The chairperson will have the responsibility to call LEC meetings as necessary.

LEC Description

LECs are local CIPS organizations found in many cities across Canada. LEC activities are often the main point of interest and participation for Members. LECs enable Members to maintain an exchange of information with fellow Members in the same general location and offer the advantages of professional involvement.

Each LEC is unique but all offer a number of excellent benefits to their Members including:

·         Dinner or luncheon meetings with high quality speakers

·         Educational sessions

·         Seminars and conferences

·         Networking opportunities

·         Newsletters

·         Special Interest Groups

·         Participation in National seminars and conferences

·         Social activities

·         Student programs
